We are currently seeking a DESIGN ENGINEER MECHANICAL PRODUCTS based out of our facility in Elgin, Illinois. POSITION SUMMARY Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager of Mechanical Products, the DESIGN ENGINEER is responsible for: (1) Provide engineering, manufacturing, production and project management support of the mechanical products line; (2) Improve the performance and efficiency of existing products; (3) Research and develop ideas for new products and production systems. Excelling in a team environment, the DESIGN ENGINEER works well with individuals throughout the organization, including w orking directly with technicians and assemblers to resolve issues. The DESIGN ENGINEER is self-sufficient, needs minimal supervision/direction, makes the decisions, solves the problems and thinks outside the box while leveraging new technologies. Possessing a “can-do” attitude, the DESIGN ENGINEER has an innovative spirit and uses his/her knowledge/experience to come up with newer, better and more cost effective designs. RESPONSiBILITIES · Production Support : (1) Support production by providing engineering services as required ensuring that manufactured product meets design intent; (2) Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems as required to assist production; (3) Respond to Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) submitted by internal customers by evaluating request and initiating design changes (ECNs) as required; (4) Address, correct and close Product Problem Inventory (PPI) issues submitted by production, service, and marketing departments; attend PPI meetings as required; (5) Review and approve Assembly Work Instructions; assist ME’s in creation of WI’s by creating drawings or illustrations as needed to convey design intent. · Sales and Service Support : (1) Maintain Options/Accessories lists for assigned product; (2) Provide engineering support to field service organization by addressing and correcting design issues; (3) Work directly with CSR’s and field service managers to resolve warranty and performance issues; (4) Review and approve Service Bulletins, Tech Tips and Service Manuals; (5) Uses UGS CAD system as required to design and detail assemblies and parts; (6) Review designs and updates as necessary to reduce product cost. · Design : (1) Design complex components, simple mechanisms. · Troubleshoot and Support : (1) Investigate and solve service issues (PPI’s); (2) Investigate and solve manufacturing issues (ECR’s). Education preferred · Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering. Experience required · 3 – 5 years experience in the design of complex mechanisms, assemblies and welded structures. · Demonstrated CAD proficiency and 3D model drafting experience.
