Cargill Corn Milling North America is one of the world's leading producers of corn sweeteners. In addition to manufacturing high fructose corn syrup, used in soft drinks and other food and beverage applications, we make corn syrups, dextrose syrups and sucrose that are used in a variety of confectionery, brewing, food and pharmaceutical applications. We also produce fuel-grade ethanol; and we are a leading supplier of corn oil, acidulants, corn gluten meal and corn gluten feed products. Our facilities are located in Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Illinois, and Tennessee.

Position Overview:

The position of Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the overall reliability and asset health of Cargill's Dry Corn Ingredients Paris, IL dry corn mill. This includes, but is not limited to the purchasing/receiving of all supplies and repair parts, responsibility for all site utilities (including boilers, electrical distribution and compressed air) and responsibility for contract labor used to maintain the plant. The Maintenance Supervisor also is to provide overall supervision, leadership and tactical execution of the location business plan to ensure the maintenance department is aligned with plant, product line and business unit expectations.

The responsibilities and accountability include, but are not limited to:

Ensuring Cargill ethics standards and DCI core values define the culture of the maintenance department at the facility.
Providing safety leadership for the employees in the maintenance department.
Direction and development of the employees in the maintenance department.
Application of business unit, product line and location policies, procedures and initiatives which includes EHS, food safety, product integrity, purchasing, inventory controls reliability excellence and HR processes.
Interactions with other Product Line and plant functions including Quality Management, Operations, Commercial, Finance and Commercial Operations.
Managing vendor and supplier relationships

Principal Accountabilities:

30% - Enhance deployment of and institutionalize the use of predictive and preventative maintenance practices to support improved asset health and reliability of the Paris, IL asset.

25% Development, supervision and coaching of direct and indirect reports in the maintenance department. Daily direction given to maintenance employees on reliability activities. On-going training of maintenance crafts persons through site specific and job skill enhancement training programs. Work with peers at location in establishing consistent personnel policies. Peer with other facilities to establish consistent plant practices. Lead department/area in a manner that leads to engaged employees.

20% Troubleshooting and problem solving of equipment and process failures by working with production and maintenance teams and utilizing root cause analysis tools, (RCA, 5Why, etc). Implementation of effective corrective actions to eliminate recurrence of failures.

10% Lead a proactive approach to environment, health and safety, food safety. This includes working with other applicable functions within the business unit.

10% Develop and manage capital, R&M;, contract labor and professional services budget for the location.

5% Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned by manager.

Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical discipline OR six years equivalent maintenance leadership experience
Minimum 3 years maintenance management, engineering or production management
Ability to develop and manage good working relationships with internal departments (production, logistics, accounting), contractors, suppliers, inspectors and customers
Working knowledge of predictive maintenance technology (vibration, oil, infrared, ultrasonic analysis, etc)
Strong mechanical knowledge and aptitude
Working knowledge of Safety, Food Safety, OSHA and Environmental regulations.
Demonstrated team building, leadership and conflict resolution skills. Knowledge of basic HR practices, EEO and other applicable policies and regulations.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skill (communication, coaching, recognition)
Demonstrated sound decision making and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated capital project management experience
Ability to hire, develop, train, engage and retain employees
Ability to effectively communicate (verbal, written, presentation) at various levels within an organization and with customers.

Preferred:

SMRP and/or CMRP certification
Supervision and management in a unionized environment
Food manufacturing / processing experience.
