Operations Supervisor','VER00111','!*!Cargill Dressings, Sauces & Oils refines vegetable and tropical oils and animal fat for a wide range of food and nonfood manufacturers. We also make shortenings, frying oils, mayonnaise, dressings, and sauces for the foodservice industry. The business operates eight oil refineries, six shortening and oil packaging plants, a mayonnaise production facility, a dressings plant and a culinary sauce facility, all of which are located in the United States. We also operate an edible oil refinery in Mexico. Customers include major food manufacturers and quick-service and casual-dining restaurant chains. Dressings Sauces & Oils is integrated with Cargill's soybean crushing activities, which provide a reliable source of crude soybean oil for further processing. Cargill is currently recruiting for an Operations Supervisor in the Vernon, CA facility.
Position Overview:
The Operations Supervisor provides operations experience and management skills for the daily direction and efficient performance of the Rendering, Refining and Foodservice Packaging operations at the facility. This role also develops production area standards and goals.
Principal Accountabilities:
Supervises production employees and has full human resource management responsibilities for leads and operators including hiring, scheduling, motivating, handling employee relations issues, and processing employee related paperwork. Has direct communication with Production Supervisor, Maintenance Reliability Leader, and Production Scheduler on all items of plant operations. Develops and coaches employees through Cargill Performance Management Process (PMP) as well as managing the disciplinary process. Ensures work team complies with Cargill, Business Unit, and facility policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. Functions as the On Site Lean Leader. Works closely with the Location Lean Leader Builds employee engagement through positive working relationships and promotion of an enthusiastic and open atmosphere where employees will want to offer their ideas. Delegates day-to-day direct supervision of operators and production activities to direct reports (i.e. Leadpersons). Participates in daily production meetings weekly conference calls Drives customer solutions and services, product quality, SQI, and food safety. Works with Technical and Product Development groups to analyze plant capabilities versus customer needs and wants. Ensures availability of consumable supplies and provides communications to ensure the procurement of necessary supplies. Plans and monitors production shutdowns. Collaborates with our Joint Venture Partner (CMS) on production planning and customer issues and product requirements. Recommends and implements operating efficiencies within production area. Develops a portion of the production budget for the plant. Manages expenses and provides monthly budget report, including explanation of unusual items. Troubleshoots causes of customer issues or production problems and collaborates with other functions to provide efficient and effective resolution. Manages Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program and compliance within production area. Oversees coordination of maintenance activities with respect to product planning. Ability to coach others for high performance and high engagement; motivates, inspires, and engages others to excel and work towards the vision. ','!*!Required:
A bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering. Current or previous supervisory experience working in a USDA regulated facility Demonstrated respect, candor, and commitment Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills. Keen sense of priorities; sees what needs to be done, assesses degree of urgency and importance, and takes appropriate action. Demonstrated expertise in managing multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines in a highly dynamic environment. Effective problem solving and decision making skills aligned with the Discuss, Decide, Support behavioral capability. Practical business acumen. Strong understanding of food manufacturing and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Strong understanding of sanitation, food handling, and food & personal safety practices. Knowledge of Emergency Action Plan for the facility. Practical business acumen. Relentless determination and courage to get things done; demonstrates tenacious and unrelenting drive for results. Demonstrated teamwork and the ability to effectively collaborate with others. Ability to influence others outside of formal reporting relationships. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently.
Desired:
Food Manufacturing experience preferred. Lean Manufacturing experience.
